(AIM Joraco®) provides application-specific machinery and tooling designed to address unique production challenges while improving repeatability and reducing reliance on manual processes.
Joraco Press Company designed and fabricated a custom 16-ton countersink-forming press for a manufacturer of bullet-resistant and acoustical door frames. The system forms countersinks for 3/16" 3/4" fasteners in stainless steel up to 12 gauge and provides an 8-inch throat depth for large door frame components. This application-specific design combines high forming capacity, extended reach, and structural stiffness in a single production system. To meet these requirements, Joraco engineers a custom 16-ton Hydro-Aire® C-Frame press. The C-frame configuration allows operators to move long sections of material through the forming area while maintaining the structural stiffness required under a 16-ton forming load. Interchangeable tooling with adjustable hard stops accommodates multiple fastener sizes and allows operators to control forming depth. The Hydro-Aire system provides a maximum 1/2" power stroke, with deeper applications completed through multiple press cycles when necessary.

Joraco also incorporated features focused on operator efficiency and material handling. A cam-operated lower forming tool moves out of the work area when positioning material between pilot holes and is controlled by a dedicated pneumatic switch located near the two-hand controls. The resulting system combines high-force forming, flexible tooling, structural rigidity, and ergonomic operation, providing a reliable and repeatable alternative to handheld door-dimpling tools while preserving the integrity of the sheet metal. This press combines strength, flexibility, and ease of operation in a single system. This project highlights Joraco's ability to develop custom machinery and tool solutions for demanding manufacturing applications, turning a challenging forming process into a reliable, repeatable production operation.
