Southwest Florida Proton names Joe Kascmar as director of operations

ESTERO, Fla. - TelAve -- Southwest Florida Proton has appointed Joseph S. Kascmar, MS, MBA, as director of operations, bringing more than 15 years of health care leadership experience to the region's advanced cancer treatment center.
In his new role, Kascmar oversees daily operations, supports strategic growth initiatives and helps ensure the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care. He specializes in building and scaling multi-site operations while aligning clinical excellence with operational performance.
"Joe's extensive leadership experience and operational expertise make him an outstanding addition to our team," said Dr. Shannon MacDonald, senior medical director at Southwest Florida Proton. "As we continue expanding access to proton therapy across Southwest Florida, his strategic vision and collaborative approach will help strengthen our ability to serve patients with efficiency, consistency and compassion."
Throughout his career, Kascmar has held leadership positions with 21st Century Oncology, McKesson, Dartmouth Health and Cedars-Sinai, where he guided organizations through complex transformations, including the integration of hospital service lines, oncology programs and ambulatory networks nationwide.

Known for his execution-focused leadership style, Kascmar has led operational turnarounds, de novo expansions and joint ventures that reduced wait times, improved patient access and achieved high levels of patient satisfaction. His collaborative approach empowers multidisciplinary teams while fostering a strong organizational culture.
"I am honored to join Southwest Florida Proton and contribute to an organization that is revolutionizing cancer care in the region," Kascmar said. "My focus is on supporting scalable, high-performing operations that enhance the patient experience while maintaining the highest standards of clinical quality."
Kascmar began his career in radiology and radiation therapy, and he maintains a strong clinical foundation that informs his operational leadership. He earned an undergraduate degree from Excelsior University before completing a Master of Science degree in health care delivery science from Dartmouth College's Tuck School of Business and a Master of Business Administration degree from the New York Institute of Technology. He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
