SparkAnew to Preview 'SparkPlace' Mobile Platform at Connected Cities Summit

TelAve News/10908364
Ahead of its mid-October launch, the Albuquerque-based ecosystem will preview digital features designed to revitalize third spaces and drive real-world community participation.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - TelAve -- As local communities and civic leaders grapple with social isolation, SparkAnew, a mission-driven ecosystem dedicated to rebuilding local social infrastructure, today announced it will preview its flagship application, SparkPlace, at the Connected Cities Summit ahead of its public release.

While conventional social platforms are designed to maximize screen time, SparkPlace is engineered as a bridge to physical interaction. Headquartered in Albuquerque, New Mexico, which also serves as the initial anchor market, the web and mobile discovery platform connects individuals ("Embers") with verified physical third spaces where real-world connection naturally exists.

"Technology should serve physical human gathering, not replace it," said Stephen W. Morris, Founder and Ecosystem Lead at SparkAnew. "At the Connected Cities Summit, we are demonstrating how intentional platform architecture can help people move from isolation to participation. By categorizing and highlighting physical third spaces, we are giving individuals the map they need to find belonging in their immediate neighborhood."

Previewing the SparkPlace Framework

During the pre-launch preview, SparkAnew plans to showcase how SparkPlace evaluates and categorizes physical gathering environments to support different levels of human interaction:
  • Rooted Spaces: Established community anchors like local libraries, neighborhood parks, and civic plazas that foster organic, ongoing presence.
  • Civic & Hosted Spaces: Dedicated local establishments, local cafes, and arts hubs where community stewards ("Keepers") cultivate welcoming environments for shared life.
  • Activated Spaces: Purpose-driven gatherings, workshops, and collaborative events designed to bring people together around shared interests and creative expression.

"We've spent decades slowly dismantling the places and habits that once brought us into regular contact with people beyond our immediate circles," said Amalia Giebitz, co-founder at SparkAnew. "SparkPlace is our effort to rebuild that social infrastructure: a genuine third space where comfort creates belonging, belonging enables community, and healthy community unleashes creativity."

In addition to physical place discovery, the upcoming release introduces early access to Ember Corner, a personalized user dashboard where participants can save trusted third spaces, coordinate local gatherings, and connect with broader ecosystem initiatives, like ACT (Arts-Integrated Creativity Training) and business incubator support through The Forge.

Founding team members will participate in the summit alongside civic leaders, urban planners, and community builders focusing on social infrastructure. To request an early press preview or register for the Albuquerque soft launch, please visit sparkanew.com.
