Spokane: City Construction Projects Traffic Impacts Next Week
TelAve News/10878212
~ Spokane City is making strides towards improving water reliability and supporting future growth with the installation of a new water transmission main. The project, which is part of a larger initiative to enhance water, sewer, stormwater, and traffic infrastructure in the area, is currently in its second phase.
According to Kirstin Davis, Communications Manager for Spokane City, the project will require significant work near the intersection of Nine Mile Rd. and Rifle Club Rd. from October 13-17. Drivers are advised to slow down and follow flaggers' instructions for everyone's safety.
The first two days of work will see Nine Mile Rd./Hwy 291 reduced to one travel lane from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m., with flaggers directing traffic through the work zone. Additionally, Rifle Club Rd. will be closed between Nine Mile Rd. and Old Fort Dr., with access only available for local and emergency vehicles via Woodside Ave. and Wind River Dr. Rifle Club Ct. will also be closed between Nine Mile Rd. and Oxford Ln., with access only available for local and emergency vehicles.

From October 15-17, lane reductions in both directions on Nine Mile Rd. between Woodside Ave. and Wind River Dr. will continue as part of the project.
In addition to this project, the City of Spokane Street Department will also be conducting a heavy maintenance project on Qualchan Rd., starting on Monday, October 16 between Cheney-Spokane Rd. and Hwy 195. The project is expected to be completed by Wednesday, October 22.
Drivers are advised to expect lane reductions and intermittent short-term closures on Qualchan Rd., as well as adding extra time to their commute and avoiding peak travel times when possible.
To help drivers navigate around these construction areas, related images have been provided by Spokane City including a Traffic Alert Map for Nine Mile Rd. and Rifle Club Rd., as well as one for Qualchan Rd.
With these projects, Spokane City is taking proactive steps towards improving infrastructure and ensuring the safety of its residents. Drivers are reminded to slow down, follow instructions, and be alert for everyone's safety during this time.
