~ As the nation prepares to honor and remember its veterans on November 11th, the city of Spokane is also making some changes to its services in observance of Veterans Day. According to Erin Hut, the Communications Director for the city, on-street parking meters and kiosks will not require payment on Monday. This means that residents and visitors can park for free on this day. However, Hut reminds everyone that even when parking is free on holidays, all parking rules must still be followed, including time limits.

While parking may be free, other city services will continue as usual. Solid Waste Services will operate on its regular schedule and the Waste to Energy Facility will remain open. The Development Service Center will also have employees available for any inquiries. For those who need assistance from My Spokane 311, employees will be available in person, over the phone or online through their website.

The Spokane City Council briefing session and legislative meeting will also take place as scheduled at 3:30 p.m. and 6 p.m., respectively. These meetings can be viewed live on CityCable 5, Facebook or the city's website.

In honor of Veterans Day, Riverfront Park is offering complimentary rides on the Looff Carrousel for all military members - both active and retired - as well as their families.

However, some city services will be closed in observance of this holiday. All branches of the Spokane Public Library will be closed and there will be no operations at the Spokane Municipal Court or Community Justice Services.
