~ Spokane City Council, in collaboration with the Office of Neighborhood Services, will be hosting a special event called "Community Days" to honor the late Sandy Williams. Williams was a well-known figure in the Spokane community, known for her contributions as the founder of The Black Lens and the Carl Maxey Center, as well as being a co-founder of Spokane Community Against Racism (SCAR).

The event, which will take place on Wednesday, September 9th at 5:00 PM in the Council Chambers at City Hall, aims to celebrate Williams' life and legacy of service. Council President Betsy Wilkerson expressed her excitement for the event, stating that it will provide attendees with a deeper understanding of what community truly means beyond just the Council chambers.

Mayor Lisa Brown and City Council members will be in attendance, along with representatives from The Carl Maxey Center, The Black Lens, SCAR, and other community organizations. The event will also feature related images such as the Sandy Williams Community Day poster.

Wilkerson emphasized that it is not only a celebration of Williams' birthday but also an opportunity to honor her impact on the Spokane community. The event is open to all members of the public who wish to pay their respects and celebrate Williams' life and contributions.
