The AWC's Certificate of Municipal Leadership program is designed to acknowledge and honor elected officials who have completed training in five core areas: legal requirements, budgeting and financial management, infrastructure and land use, building safe and thriving communities, and effective local leadership. This program aims to equip city leaders with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively operate within the law, plan for the future, secure and manage funds, foster strong relationships, and work towards building more equitable communities.
According to AWC CEO Deanna Dawson, being a city leader in Washington is a complex job that requires a comprehensive understanding of various aspects of local government. The Advanced CML program provides elected officials with the necessary tools to fulfill their roles effectively.
