~ Spokane Mayor Lisa Brown has ordered all flags at City facilities to be lowered to half-staff on Friday, Sept. 11, in honor of Patriot Day. This decision follows Governor Bob Ferguson's directive for all state and U.S. flags at state agency facilities to also be lowered on this day.

According to Erin Hut, the Communications Director for Spokane City, this year marks the 25th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks. In a statement, Mayor Brown expressed her sentiments on this solemn occasion, saying, "We remember the lives lost, the bravery of first responders, and the resilience of a nation forever changed."

The flags will remain at half-staff until the end of business or sunset on Friday. The mayor also encourages other government entities, citizens, and businesses to join in this recognition. This gesture serves as a reminder to never forget the tragic events that occurred on September 11, 2001.
