Spokane: J-Turn Project Requires Meadowlane Closure
TelAve News/10895568
~ Spokane City's Traffic Safety Project on US 195 Corridor Progresses, Meadowlane Rd. to Close for 30 Days
The City of Spokane's efforts to improve traffic safety on the US 195 corridor are moving forward as the next phase of the project begins. According to Kirstin Davis, Communications Manager for the city, Meadowlane Rd. on the west side of US 195 will be closed starting Monday, May 11 for approximately 30 days.
The closure is necessary for the installation of a "J-turn" at the intersection, which will provide acceleration and deceleration lanes to enhance safety and reduce congestion. This improvement is also in preparation for future growth in the area. In addition, a new sidewalk will be added along south Meadowlane Rd. between Eagle Ridge Blvd. and Pheasant Bluff Ave. to improve pedestrian safety.
Drivers can expect several changes during this time period, which is expected to last until mid-to-late July. Those traveling southbound on US 195 will not be able to access Meadowlane Rd. on the west side from that direction. Instead, they will need to exit at Cheney-Spokane Rd., travel south to Cedar Rd., and continue to Eagle Ridge Blvd. in order to reach the residential area.

However, drivers can still access Meadowlane Rd. on the east side of US 195 from both northbound and southbound directions. This means that those already on Meadowlane Rd. will still have access to both northbound and southbound lanes of US 195 during this time.
It's important for all drivers in the area to slow down and pay attention while these changes are in effect. Work zone lane reductions near the Meadowlane Rd. intersection will continue for both northbound and southbound traffic on US 195.
To help navigate these changes, drivers are advised to follow signage and watch out for flaggers when present. The city has also provided a closure and detour map for reference.
The City of Spokane is committed to improving traffic safety and reducing congestion on the US 195 corridor. With these changes, they hope to create a safer and more efficient driving experience for all.
