~ On the evening of September 27, the Springfield Police Department responded to a call at 2223 N. Glenstone regarding an injury crash involving a pedestrian. According to reports, a 1999 Buick Park Avenue driven by Betsy Stephenson, 36, was traveling northbound on Glenstone when it struck a pedestrian who was walking westbound across the street towards 2223 N. Glenstone.

The pedestrian, identified as Kerry D. Allen, 51, of Springfield, was immediately transported to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. The next of kin has been notified. The driver showed no signs of impairment and the investigation is still ongoing.

This tragic incident marks the fourteenth fatality crash in Springfield this year. The police department urges drivers and pedestrians to exercise caution and follow traffic laws to prevent further accidents.
