Chief Williams stated, "Our goal with the Street Outreach Team is simple. We're meeting people where they are and connecting them with the help they need. This is about compassion and partnership to offer meaningful support while maintaining public safety."

The Street Outreach Team will serve as the primary resource for addressing complaints or concerns from the public regarding homelessness. They will also take a proactive approach by working closely with non-profit organizations, healthcare providers, and hospitals in order to offer compassionate and coordinated support.

Through these partnerships, the team hopes to build trust with individuals experiencing homelessness and connect them to vital resources that will help them move towards long-term stability. The Springfield Police Department is committed to making a positive impact on their community by providing assistance and maintaining public safety through this new initiative.
