~ Springfield police responded to a shooting at the McDonald's restaurant located at 1114 W. Kearney in the early hours of November 21st. The call came in at 12:04 a.m. from a concerned citizen who reported a male subject had been shot. Upon arrival, officers found a man with serious injuries and an apparent gunshot wound. The victim, identified as 28-year-old Zachary J. Zumwalt of Springfield, was rushed to the hospital by ambulance but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.

Authorities have notified the victim's next of kin and are continuing their investigation into the incident. At this time, no suspect has been identified. Detectives are urging anyone with information to come forward and contact the Springfield Police Department at 417-864-1810 or make an anonymous report to Crime Stoppers at 417-869-8477.

The motive behind the shooting is still unknown and police are working diligently to gather any leads that may lead to an arrest. Updates will be provided as they become available.
