Springfield: Renew Jordan Creek schedule change: Closure to shift from Campbell to Boonville Oct. 20
TelAve News/10878317
~ The Renew Jordan Creek construction team has announced changes to their project schedule due to unforeseen issues with subcontractor scheduling. As a result, the planned traffic closure shift from Campbell Avenue to Boonville Avenue has been rescheduled for Monday, Oct. 20.
According to Project Manager Kirkland Preston, this change was necessary in order to better prepare for the upcoming construction of required railroad improvements within a tight 96-hour window. The closure of Boonville Avenue, which was originally planned for a week later, will now take place on the same day as the reopening of Campbell Avenue.
The six-month closure of Campbell Avenue between Water and Mill streets will come to an end on Oct. 20, allowing motorists to once again use this route. However, traffic flow will be limited to a single lane for one to two months while crews work on constructing sidewalk, railing and limestone veneer on the new bridge.

Once Campbell Avenue reopens, Boonville Avenue will close to through traffic between Water Street and just north of the Mill Street intersection. This closure is expected to last eight months and will involve the demolition of the roadway and Missouri State University east parking lot. In addition, new box culvert, sanitary sewer system extension, creek diversion and improvements to the BNSF railroad crossing will also be installed during this time.
To ensure smooth traffic flow during these closures, detours have been put in place. Northbound through traffic on Boonville will be directed via Olive Street to Campbell Avenue while southbound traffic will be rerouted along Phelps Street to Jefferson Avenue. "Soft closures" have also been set up at various points near the worksite in order to guide drivers away from the closed areas.
