~ Springfield Police Department Honors Graduates of Citizens Police Academy

On November 20, the Springfield Regional Police and Fire Training Center held a ceremony to honor 21 graduates of the 2017 Citizens Police Academy. The participants, who completed 30 hours of instruction over 11 weeks, were recognized for their dedication and commitment to learning about law enforcement.

Led by Chief Paul Williams, the academy covered a wide range of topics including police policies, organizational structure, investigative processes, tactics, and the challenges faced in maintaining a safe community. The graduates were commended for their eagerness to learn and their willingness to engage with officers.

Applications for the 2018 class will be accepted in the spring. Those interested in gaining a deeper understanding of law enforcement are encouraged to apply.

Among the graduates were Chris Creager, Kelly Creager, Steve Everest, Linda Foster, Elbie McCowan, Lori Muetzel, Joe Johnson, Ryan Dalton, Terry Kolaks, Christina Strodtman, Jerry Rowland, Esther Storm, Mickey Russell, Jill Wiggins and Phillip Secca. Officer Kaylee Friend was also present at the ceremony.

Not pictured but also part of the graduating class were Eric Clay, Keaton Worley, Richard Biehl, Chris Nease, Michael Updegrave and Savannah Stepp. Each graduate was recognized individually for their hard work and dedication during the ceremony.
