St. Louis Museum Hosts Civil Rights Night 2/12: Exploring Racial Laws from Jim Crow to the Holocaust

TelAve News/10887125
ST. LOUIS - TelAve -- At a moment when questions of justice, memory, and accountability feel more urgent than ever, the Museum is creating space for a powerful conversation that bridges histories too often examined in isolation.

The Museum invites the public to attend Civil Rights Night: The Impact of Racial Laws from Jim Crow to the Holocaust, a compelling educational program examining the historical connections between racial oppression in the United States and Nazi genocide on Thursday, February 12, from 6-7pm.

The event will feature Dr. Dan J. Puckett, Professor of History at Troy University and Chair of the Alabama Holocaust Commission. Dr. Puckett will explore how racial laws shaped American history under Jim Crow and how similar ideologies informed the legal and social framework of the Holocaust.

Dr. Puckett will be joined in conversation by Reverend Rodrick Burton, President of the St. Louis Airport Interfaith Chaplaincy and a member of the Museum's Board of Directors. Together, they will discuss the lasting implications of these histories and their relevance to contemporary conversations about civil rights, justice, and historical memory.

This thought-provoking program invites reflection on how past systems of racial oppression continue to influence society today.

The event is hosted in partnership with the Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) of St. Louis.
