DENVER ~ Denver, CO - In a historic move, Governor Jared Polis of Colorado and Denys Denyshchenko, Deputy Head of the Volyn Regional State Administration, have signed a Sister State Agreement between the State of Colorado and the Volyn Region of Ukraine.
The agreement, signed today, highlights the strong ties between Colorado and Ukraine and emphasizes the importance of sharing culture and trade. It also aims to foster collaboration across government, education, and industry in order to strengthen both economies.
Governor Polis expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, stating that "Today's historic sister state agreement between Volyn and Colorado marks another strong tie connecting the State of Colorado and the people of Ukraine." He also emphasized that this partnership serves as a symbol of solidarity against Russian aggression.
Denys Denyshchenko echoed Governor Polis' sentiments, expressing his gratitude to the United States government and specifically to Governor Polis for their unwavering support during this challenging time for Ukraine. He also highlighted the importance of this agreement in building long-term and substantive partnership relations between Volyn and Colorado.

The agreement focuses on nine priority sectors that play a significant role in both regions' economies. These include energy resilience and clean technologies, agrotechnologies and advanced food processing, sustainable forestry and wood processing, digital transformation and IT sector, logistics and transport infrastructure, circular economy and waste management, healthcare and rehabilitation, education innovation and human capital, as well as arts and culture.
Under this agreement, Colorado and Volyn will share information and best practices in these sectors. They will also work towards facilitating government relationships as well as partnerships between educational institutions and businesses. The ultimate goal is to create arrangements that benefit both regions.
As we approach the fourth anniversary of Putin's illegal invasion of Ukraine, this agreement serves as a reminder of the strength of the Ukrainian people. It also celebrates the resolve of democracies around the world. This partnership represents not only economic and academic opportunities for both Colorado and Volyn but also honors their shared values of freedom, the rule of law, and self-determination.
