Supreme Court Delivers Blow To Planned Parenthood's Medicaid Monopoly
TelAve News/10867304
WASHINGTON - TelAve -- WASHINGTON, D.C. — The National Association of Pro-Life Nurses (NAPN) applauds the Supreme Court's 6–3 ruling in Medina v. Planned Parenthood South Atlantic, calling it a landmark victory that dismantles the abortion industry's grip on public funding. The decision upholds states' authority to exclude abortion providers like Planned Parenthood from Medicaid and redirect funding to providers who practice life-affirming, patient-centered care.
"For decades, Planned Parenthood has masqueraded as a healthcare provider while prioritizing abortion and padding its bottom line with taxpayer dollars," said Marie Ashby, RN, Executive Director of NAPN. "This ruling affirms what nurses have long known: abortion is not healthcare, and states should never be forced to subsidize it."
The case centered on whether individual Medicaid patients can sue states that choose to defund abortion providers. The Court ruled they cannot—upholding South Carolina's right to terminate Planned Parenthood's Medicaid contract.

"The abortion industry's taxpayer gravy train just derailed," said Felipe Avila, NAPN Communications Director. "This ruling gives states the freedom to reject Planned Parenthood's assembly-line approach and instead support providers who truly care for both mother and child. The era of taxpayer-funded destruction is over."
Founded in 1973, the National Association of Pro-Life Nurses represents healthcare professionals who uphold the dignity of every human life from conception to natural death. NAPN advocates for ethical healthcare, conscience protections, and policies that support both patients and the providers who serve them. Learn more at nursesforlife.org.
