~ Tacoma City's Street Operations Crews to Conduct Essential Asphalt Repairs on Ruston Way
The City of Tacoma's Street Operations crews have announced their plans to conduct essential asphalt repairs on the southbound lane of Ruston Way near Alder Street (the 3000 block) on Saturday, March 21. In order to minimize impacts on weekday commuters, the work is scheduled to take place on a weekend.
The repairs are expected to take one day, beginning at 6 a.m. and concluding at approximately 6 p.m. During this time, Ruston Way will be reduced to a single lane, causing potential traffic delays. Drivers traveling along the waterfront are advised to plan for extra travel time or consider alternate routes.

To ensure the safety of the public, notice boards and traffic control signage will be in place to guide drivers through the area. While general vehicle access may be limited in the immediate work zone, crews will make sure that access to nearby businesses and buildings is maintained at all times.
The schedule for these repairs is strictly weather-dependent as dry conditions are necessary for this type of roadwork. In case of inclement weather, the project will be postponed and rescheduled.
Updates regarding this project will be provided on the City's website, social media platforms, and pre-construction signage. Community members with any questions can contact Project Supervisor Thomas Adams at tadams@tacoma.gov or (253) 591-5870.
