Tacoma: 'Construction 201' Workshop on November 5

~ Tacoma, Wash. - The City of Tacoma's Community and Economic Development Department will be hosting a "Construction 201" workshop and Q&A session on November 5, 2024. The event aims to support the city's ongoing efforts to address disparities for historically underutilized businesses owned by minority, women, and socially and economically disadvantaged individuals.

The workshop will take place from 1-3 PM and will be conducted in a hybrid format with both in-person and virtual options available. The City's Equity in Contracting (EIC) team will lead the discussion, with staff from the Public Works Department also present.

Attendees can expect to learn about various topics related to the construction process, including a recap of the bid process, contracts and award letters, preconstruction requirements such as city business licenses and contractor licenses, apprentice requirements, progress meetings, administrative issues like certified payrolls, and project closeouts.
