Texas: Governor Abbott Announces Latest Slate Of Appointments

~ This week, Governor Greg Abbott announced his selection of several qualified individuals to serve on behalf of the state of Texas. Among these appointments were Andrew Friedrichs as the Governor's Criminal Justice Division Director and Pat Gordon to the Texas Transportation Commission.
Friedrichs, who will assume his role on March 1, 2026, was chosen by Governor Abbott to lead the Criminal Justice Division. His term will expire at the pleasure of the Governor. The division is responsible for overseeing criminal justice programs and initiatives in the state.
In addition, Governor Abbott appointed Tina Polin and reappointed Joe Canales, Roberto De Leon, and Derek Delgado to the One-Call Board of Texas. These individuals will serve terms that expire on August 31, 2028. Joining them on the board is Andrew Keefer, whose term will expire on August 31, 2027. The One-Call Board has jurisdiction over "Call Before You Dig" systems that notify underground facility operators about excavation plans in order to prevent accidents.

Governor Abbott also made appointments to the Texas Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners. Erin Smith, O.T.D., Lynn Wilde, and Eddie Jessie were chosen by the Governor for terms set to expire on February 1, 2031. This board is responsible for licensing and regulating occupational therapy services in Texas.
Lastly, Pat Gordon was appointed by Governor Abbott to serve on the Texas Transportation Commission until February 1, 2027. The commission oversees the operations of the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and makes policy decisions regarding the state's highway system. They are also involved in developing a statewide transportation plan and promoting public transportation.
These appointments reflect Governor Abbott's commitment to selecting highly qualified individuals to serve in important roles for Texans. Their expertise and dedication will undoubtedly contribute to making positive changes in their respective areas of responsibility.
