~ Austin, TX- Governor Greg Abbott has announced the appointment of Matthew Erickson as the new Director of the Regulatory Compliance Division. Erickson's term is set to expire on February 1, 2027.

Erickson, a resident of Austin, brings a wealth of experience to his new role. He currently serves as a staff attorney with the Supreme Court of Texas and has previously worked as a senior associate at Baker Botts L.L.P. He also has experience as a law clerk for two esteemed judges, the Honorable Don Willett and the Honorable Gene E.K. Pratter.

In addition to his legal career, Erickson is an active member of both the State Bar of Texas and the New York State Bar. He also serves as a senior warden at Immanuel Anglican Church and volunteers with Safe Families for Children.

Erickson's impressive education includes a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Business Administration from Colorado Christian University and a Juris Doctor from Northwestern University School of Law.

As Director of the Regulatory Compliance Division, Erickson will be responsible for reviewing rules proposed by state licensing agencies that impact market competition. His extensive background in law and dedication to public service make him well-suited for this important role.
