Texas: Governor Abbott Holds Local Business Roundtable In Laredo
TelAve News/10887833
~ Governor Greg Abbott of Texas recently met with local business owners in South Texas to discuss the state's thriving economy and the crucial role played by small businesses in its success. The roundtable, held in Port Laredo, brought together a diverse group of business leaders and officials to discuss the current state of the economy and ways to ensure its continued growth.
During the meeting, Governor Abbott emphasized the importance of small businesses, stating that they are "the very heartbeat" of the Texas economy. He also acknowledged that small businesses in Port Laredo have played a significant role in making it the number one port for international trade in the United States. However, he stressed that maintaining this economic prosperity requires constant vigilance.
The Governor also highlighted the positive impact of Texas' business-friendly regulatory environment on job creation and wage growth. He noted that more Texans are employed today than ever before in the state's history, thanks to this environment.
Local officials and business leaders expressed their gratitude for Governor Abbott's visit to Webb County and his focus on job creation and economic development. Webb County Judge Tano Tijerina stated that these issues are not partisan concerns but everyday concerns for families in South Texas. He appreciated the Governor's attention to this region and his direct engagement with its community.

Representative Don McLaughlin echoed these sentiments, stating that keeping Texas strong requires recognizing Laredo's critical role as an economic powerhouse for the state. He thanked Governor Abbott for bringing statewide attention to this region's infrastructure, workforce, and economic development needs.
The roundtable was attended by prominent business leaders such as Andrew Brittingham from Brittingham Construction and Development, Ramin Emami from RE Signature Homes, Rafael Gutierrez from FARO Wealth Co-founder, Monica Martinez from Laredo Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, Dennis Nixon from International Bank of Commerce CEO, along with other local officials.
Following the roundtable discussion, Governor Abbott held a press conference with Judge Tijerina and Representative McLaughlin. During the conference, he praised the resilience and innovation of small business owners in Southwest Texas. He also highlighted Texas as a blueprint for America's economic success, thanks to its limited regulations and investment in a young and diverse workforce through career and technical education.
The Governor's office has promised to release additional photos of the roundtable and press conference when available. This meeting serves as a testament to Governor Abbott's commitment to promoting economic growth and job creation in Texas, particularly in regions like South Texas that are often overlooked.
