Texas: Governor Greg Abbott Reappoints deZevallos To Aerospace And Aviation Advisory Committee

~ Houston, TX- Governor Greg Abbott has announced the reappointment of Shelly deZevallos, Ed.D. to the Aerospace and Aviation Advisory Committee for a term that will expire on September 1, 2029. The committee plays a crucial role in supporting the state's economic development efforts by attracting and retaining aerospace and aviation jobs and investments in Texas.

deZevallos, a resident of Houston, brings a wealth of experience to the committee as the president of West Houston Airport and a licensed pilot. She is also a board member of the National Business Aviation Association and a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association. In addition, she has previously served as a board member for the Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council and volunteers for The Ninety-Nines.

Her expertise in the field has been recognized at both federal and state levels. deZevallos has served as a federal appointee to the Federal Aviation Administration Safety Oversight and Certification Advisory Committee. She was also appointed by Governor Abbott to serve on the Aerospace and Aviation Advisory Committee in 2021, where she has been serving as chair since August 2024.

deZevallos holds an impressive educational background with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from University of Texas at Austin, Master of Business Administration from Texas A&M University, and a Doctor of Education in Aviation and Space from Oklahoma State University.

With her extensive knowledge and experience, deZevallos is well-equipped to continue making valuable contributions to the Aerospace and Aviation Advisory Committee. Her reappointment is sure to further strengthen Texas' position as a leader in aerospace and aviation industries.
