New educational initiative, led by Jamie Greenleaf, focuses on healthcare plan cost management, fiduciary oversight, and plan performance

JUPITER, Fla. - TelAve -- The Plan Sponsor University (TPSU) announced the launch of TPSU for Health Plan Fiduciaries, a new educational program designed to address the increasing financial, regulatory, and fiduciary complexities associated with employer-sponsored health plans.

The program expands TPSU's existing fiduciary education model—historically focused on retirement plans—into the healthcare and benefits space, where employers are experiencing rising costs, evolving compliance requirements, and increased plan governance scrutiny.

The program is structured around three primary areas of focus:

1.       Healthcare cost management,

2.       ERISA fiduciary liability and oversight, and

3.       Improving overall plan outcomes for employers and participants.

Program Structure and Content

TPSU for Health Plan Fiduciaries is delivered as a half-day, in-person program for plan sponsors, HR leaders, fiduciary committee members and legal counsel. The curriculum is designed to provide practical guidance on:
  • Evaluating and managing healthcare plan costs, including identifying hidden fees and understanding vendor compensation
  • Strengthening fiduciary governance processes and documentation
  • Navigating transparency and reporting requirements under federal regulations
  • Assessing plan performance and identifying opportunities for improved outcomes

The program is led by Jamie Greenleaf, C(k)P, AIF®, CBFA, Principal of Greenleaf Advisors and Co-Founder of Fiduciary In A Box. Greenleaf has worked with employers on fiduciary governance, benefits strategy, and cost management initiatives.

"Many employers have established formal governance processes for their retirement plans, but healthcare plans have not always been subject to the same level of oversight," said Greenleaf. "This program is intended to provide a framework for applying fiduciary best practices to health plans."

"As we experienced with 401(k) and 403(b) plans, fiduciary liability, costs and selecting the right advisor is finally coming to health and benefits plans," noted Fred Barstein, CEO and Founder of TPSU. "After almost 700 TPSU programs attended by 15,000 plan sponsors, we are excited to be able to help organizations improve their healthcare plans for employees and their beneficiaries just as we have done for their retirement plan."

2026 Program Schedule

TPSU will host the initial rollout of the program in the following locations:
  • July 8, 2026 — Houston, TX (Rice University)
  • July 16, 2026 — College Park, MD (University of Maryland)
  • July 23, 2026 — Tampa, FL (University of South Florida)
  • August 19, 2026 — New Brunswick, NJ (Rutgers University)
