JACKSON, Miss. - TelAve -- Unapologetically Mississippi will release its first official T-shirt this fall, giving supporters a new way to show their Mississippi pride. Pre-orders open October 10. Mississippi native Tangela Q. Parker founded Unapologetically Mississippi to recognize Mississippians and the work they are doing in the state and beyond. Featured individuals include entrepreneurs, executives, educators, public servants, community leaders and professionals across a range of industries.
Since its launch, Unapologetically Mississippi has featured people with ties to communities throughout the state, from small towns to larger cities. Their professions and experiences vary, but Mississippi is the connection they share. The platform gives readers an opportunity to learn about people whose work may extend far beyond the communities where their stories began. "When I created Unapologetically Mississippi, I wanted to tell the stories behind the work of people from our state," said Parker, Founder and Editor. "What has meant the most to me is seeing the pride people have in being from Mississippi. I thought it was time we had something we could wear that said it plainly." The inaugural T-shirt features the Unapologetically Mississippi name and will be available in several colors, initially through pre-order. Pricing, ordering and fulfillment details will be announced before October 10.

Parker chose October 10 because it is the birthday of her late friend, Kendra Pack. The two grew up on the same street in Mississippi and later attended college together. Pink, Kendra's favorite color, will be among the colors available. "Kendra and I grew up on the same street and went to college together," Parker said. "She was my friend for life. It felt right to start on her birthday."
