Update: Columbia Police provide additional information following officer-involved shooting on East Stadium Boulevard

(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ Columbia Police have arrested 31-year-old Marc Lucas, a resident of California, as the suspect in two separate incidents that occurred on December 25th. These incidents took place prior to an officer-involved shooting in the 3200 block of East Stadium Boulevard. The Columbia Police Department is currently investigating both cases.
The first incident, which took place at approximately 9:20 a.m. on December 25th, occurred in the 3300 block of Lemone Industrial Boulevard. Lucas is facing charges of first-degree arson and first-degree property damage in this case. At the time of his interaction with police, they were not aware that he was a suspect in the arson investigation.
The second incident occurred at around 10:08 a.m. on December 25th in the 1400 block of Cinnamon Hill Lane. Lucas is facing charges of first-degree trespass, three counts of fourth-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon, and armed criminal action in this case.
According to authorities, Columbia Police officers were investigating the second incident when they encountered Lucas at approximately 10:48 a.m. on East Stadium Boulevard. He had allegedly attempted to attack a patron inside a store with a knife. When officers attempted to detain him, he was uncooperative and a Taser was deployed but had no effect. Lucas then tried to assault one of the officers with his knife before they discharged their firearms (Case Number 2025-012301).

These investigations are still ongoing and anyone with information is urged to contact the Columbia Police Department at (573)874-7652. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through CrimeStoppers at (573)875-8477 or online at http://www.p3tips.com/899. A cash reward of up to $2,500 may be given for information leading to an arrest.
The case numbers for these incidents are 2025-012301, 2025-012303, and 2025-012304. The Columbia Police Department has also provided the relevant Missouri statutes for these charges: 569.040 (Arson in the first degree), 569.100 (Property damage in the first degree), 569.140 (Trespass in the first degree), 565.056 (Assault in the fourth degree), 571.030 (Unlawful use of weapons), and 571.015 (Armed criminal action).
