Vitek IP Announces the Availability of the Video Streaming Patent Portfolio
TelAve News/10853593
PORTLAND, Ore. - TelAve -- Vitek IP, LLC announced that they are the exclusive representative to sell the Video Streaming patent portfolio developed by Skyfire Labs, a Silicon Valley pioneer in mobile video optimization and cloud solutions.
The Video Streaming portfolio is comprised of 25 issued US patents within 15 unique families, including four key patents in two families related to video content delivery. The patented technology covers frame rate adaptation and cache-based techniques to optimize video quality delivery across varying network conditions.
Skyfire Labs was founded in 2006 and acquired by Opera Software ASA, now Otello Corporation, in 2013. The venture-backed company offered one of the first mobile web browser apps for handsets, and also developed software that eased bandwidth requirements for streaming video and other media when transmitted over congested cellular networks.
The key patents in one family of the portfolio describe a caching mechanism for storing different quality levels of video content across multiple servers and stitching together segments to provide an optimal stream based on the client's networking conditions. The key patent in the second family describes dynamically adjusting the frame rate of streaming video based on network conditions provided via a backchannel from the clients receiving the content.

Featuring key patents that claim priority dates as early as November 2006, the Video Streaming portfolio offering presents an opportunity to acquire essential technology being implemented by market leaders (and most every competitive solution) in over-the-top video streaming, videoconferencing platforms, and content hosting and delivery networks. "Strong video patents rarely go up for sale, especially patents used by nearly every streaming, teleconferencing, and video hosting provider," said Vitek's CEO Daniel Buri. "The acquirer is going to have an extremely valuable set of patents."
Vitek IP has developed claim charts outlining the demonstrated use and value of the patented technology.
Offers for the patent portfolio will be reviewed as they are received, and the patent owner intends to finalize a transaction in Q2 2025. To receive an overview of the portfolio or detailed market materials, contact us via email at info@vitek-ip.com.
