POWDER SPRINGS, Ga. - TelAve -- State Representative David Wilkerson received a 2026 "Champion of Georgia's Cities Award" from the Georgia Municipal Association (GMA) in recognition of his support for Georgia's cities during the 2025–2026 session of the Georgia General Assembly. The award was presented on Oct. 5.

The "Champion of Georgia's Cities Award" is presented at the end of each two-year legislative term to state legislators who have demonstrated strong support for major municipal initiatives and priorities.

During the 2025–2026 legislative term, Representative Wilkerson supported municipal priorities through his continued engagement on property tax policy and broader tax discussions affecting local governments. He worked with GMA and municipal leaders to help ensure lawmakers considered how proposed property tax changes could affect city revenues, local budgets, and the ability of municipalities to provide essential services to residents. His involvement in these discussions helped bring a local government perspective to the legislative process and supported efforts to balance tax relief with the financial needs of Georgia's cities. His work in the General Assembly helped advance issues important to cities and the residents they serve across Georgia.
