Eight months after incorporating, a Mesa-based nonprofit becomes a voice for veterans navigating food assistance cuts

MESA, Ariz. - TelAve -- MESA, Ariz. Willow & Oak Alliance, Inc. (WOA), a Mesa-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit serving veterans, seniors, and families across Maricopa County, participated in Congressman Greg Stanton's (AZ-04) 2026 Veterans Panel on August 4, 2026, in downtown Mesa. The event convened veteran service organizations, state officials, and community leaders to discuss housing, women veterans' issues, and state-level resource navigation for Arizona's veteran community.

WOA submitted a written question to the Congressman's office regarding federal nutrition program support, including the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and the Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) for veterans facing food insecurity, and how local organizations like WOA can better align with federal resources. Staff indicated that all attendees who submitted questions would receive a follow-up response.
