"More buyers and more closed sales do not automatically mean an inherited home should be repaired before it is sold," said Charlotte Volsch, Estate Property Advisor & Probate & Trust Real Estate Specialist. "The decision should start with what the estate needs to accomplish, then weigh the property's condition, repair costs, carrying time, taxes, insurance and the likely sale outcome. Sometimes improving the property makes sense. Sometimes selling as-is produces the better overall result."

Should an inherited home in Apple Valley be repaired or sold as-is?
Neither option is automatically better. Broader market conditions do not establish whether repairs will produce a better result for an individual estate. Property condition, repair costs, carrying time, taxes, insurance, estate objectives and likely sale outcome should be evaluated before choosing a strategy.
