Are the Cameras in Spokane Flock or ALPRs?
TelAve News/10910282
~ The Spokane Police Department says it does not own or operate Flock cameras or automated license plate readers (ALPRs).
The city has 19 photo-red cameras that record vehicles running red lights and 11 photo-speed cameras in school zones, according to the department. It said those cameras do not have an ALPR component.
When a camera records a potential violation, it undergoes an initial validation process that includes reviewing a short video and a still image of the vehicle's rear. The department said the cameras do not photograph occupants and that Washington state law strictly prohibits police from using the images or videos for other purposes.
