When she died at her Hertfordshire home 18 years ago, the Queen of Romance left 160 unpublished manuscripts. Thanks to a resurgence in romantic fiction, Cartland has gained millions of new fans around the globe, particularly in the United States.
Ian attributes the revival of interest in his mother's book to the current trend of mainstream romantic fiction that has become increasingly like soft porn. "I feel that pure romance is timeless and offers young people a chance to learn love and respect in their life, and in new relationships. The power of love is more important in everyone's life than anything else, especially in the threatening and dangerous world of today. Every Valentine's Day is a Barbara Cartland anniversary as it celebrates pure love and romance."
The website dedicated to Barbara Cartland has been being modernised and is being relaunched on Valentine's Day. Fans of love and romance will be able to find out much more about Barbara Cartland's extraordinary life and work at https://www.barbaracartland.com
