New comic collection brings Black History to young readers through the adventures of a ten-year-old time traveler
DALLAS - TelAve -- Black History 365 Education (BH365) and Joe Young Entertainment (JYE) today announced a national collaboration to expand how young people learn Black History, unveiling Kemet: The Time Traveler at a press conference at the BH365 Arlington, Texas office. The new book collects the Kemet comic books and comic strips created by award-winning cartoonist and producer Joe Young.
Kemet: The Time Traveler follows Kemet, a ten-year-old African American boy who travels through time aboard his ship, the Sankofa 82, meeting the figures and moments that shaped Black History and returning with lessons for today's young readers. The collected edition brings the series' comic books and comic strips together in a single volume designed for classroom, library, and family use.
The partnership pairs BH365's K–12 ethnic studies curriculum and publishing platform with JYE's storytelling and character-driven media, giving educators an engaging, age-appropriate entry point into Black History content that connects to a full instructional scope and sequence.

"Young people deserve to see themselves in history as heroes, not footnotes," said Dr. Walter Milton, Jr., Founder and CEO of Black History 365 Education. "Kemet does what great teaching does. He makes the past feel close enough to touch. This partnership puts that experience in the hands of students, families and teachers across the country."
"I created Kemet, the Time Traveler to find an innovative way to make Black history exciting and relevant for young people," said Joe Young, President of Joe Young Entertainment and creator of the series. "By combining comics, adventure, and technology, we meet kids where they are — educating, entertaining, and inspiring them to learn more about their history. Partnering with BH365 means these stories now travel with the curriculum, the classroom and the community behind them."
Press conference activities included the official announcement of the collaboration, the unveiling of the new book, remarks from Dr. Milton, Joe Young and invited guests, and an appearance by the Kemet mascot. Media interviews, partnership photographs and behind-the-scenes video were available on site.
