BodyMods, Canada's Largest Body Jewellery Retailer, Expands into Alberta
TelAve News/10901933
The Canadian-owned company, founded in 2002, continues its Western Canadian expansion with two new Calgary studios focused on professional piercing, tattooing, and premium body jewellery.
CALGARY, Alberta - TelAve -- BodyMods, Canada's largest body jewellery retailer and a recognized leader in professional piercing and tattoo services, is entering the Alberta market with the opening of its first two Calgary studios. The new locations will open at Chinook Centre on August 15, 2026, followed by Market Mall on October 1, 2026, marking the company's first expansion into Alberta and the next chapter of its growth across Western Canada.
BodyMods was founded in 2002 by Sarah Bolton and Nathan Arnold, who saw a gap in the market for a safe, inclusive place for body piercings and tattoos. Since then, the company has grown to 10 locations across British Columbia, with plans to establish 12 more studios by 2028. That growth reflects not only the company's success, but also the remarkable evolution of piercing and tattoo culture in Canada. What was once viewed by many as unconventional has become a widely accepted form of personal expression embraced by people of all ages and backgrounds.

"When we started BodyMods, body piercing and tattooing simply weren't as widely accepted as they are today. We spent a lot of time convincing people that this industry could be professional, welcoming, and a natural fit for shopping centres," said Nathan Arnold. "We believed in its potential long before it became part of the mainstream, and we set out to build a company that would help redefine what people could expect from body modifications. Bringing BodyMods to Alberta is another step in that journey, and we're excited for what's still to come."
The Chinook Centre and Market Mall locations will offer BodyMods' full range of body jewellery and professional piercing and tattoo services. Whether selecting new jewellery, getting a piercing, planning a custom tattoo, or receiving personalized styling advice, clients can expect the same commitment to quality, safety, and service that has defined BodyMods for more than two decades.
"Opening in Calgary is a milestone we're incredibly proud of. It's an opportunity to introduce more Canadians to BodyMods and everything we've spent more than two decades building," said Sarah Bolton. "Opening in two of Calgary's premier shopping centres is a reminder of how far our industry has come. Over the past 20 years, BodyMods has helped shape the industry we see today, and we're excited to be part of where it goes next."
