Bronx Educator and Industry Filmmaker Launch Documentary Partnership in The Bronx
TelAve News/10897992
Educator Jennifer Maddox and Director/Cinematographer Eric Jimenez unite expertise to develop documentary projects centered on social impact and underrepresented voices in The Bronx.
BRONX, N.Y. - TelAve -- BRONX, N.Y. — Educator Jennifer Maddox and filmmaker Eric Jimenez have announced a new documentary partnership focused on stories of justice, resilience, education, and community impact in the Bronx.
The collaboration brings together Maddox's background in education and community engagement with Jimenez's experience in film and television production. Together, they are developing documentary projects that challenge well-established narratives about teenagers in the Bronx and highlight stories of resilience in the borough that deserve to be heard.
Through a combination of authentic storytelling and community-centered filmmaking, the team aims to highlight underrepresented voices and preserve stories that might otherwise go untold.

"No one cares until there is a documentary," Maddox said, referencing the episode "Betrayed by the Badge" from Worst Ex Ever as part of her inspiration to leave her full-time role as an educator at a Bronx suspension school and pursue storytelling.
"For almost 15 years, I have been preaching and preaching to teenagers about social issues," she said. "I figured I could make an even bigger difference this way."
Several projects are currently in development, with additional announcements expected in the coming months.
Their most recent project, shared on the SmArt Sheep Productions Instagram page, documents the food resilience and community sustainability in the Morris Park neighborhood of the Bronx.
