CAMDEN, N.J. - TelAve -- CAMDEN, N.J. — Camden Contemporary Dance Theatre (CCDT) is proving that dance is more than movement—it is a powerful vehicle for confidence, creativity, purpose, and community connection.

Led by Camden natives and co-directors Takreeya Hawkins and Omar-Frederick Pratt, CCDT creates opportunities for dancers to discover their gifts, develop their artistry, and experience the joy and freedom of dance.

Hawkins, a Creative Arts High School graduate, studied dance at The University of the Arts and earned an associate degree in psychology from Camden County College. A 2018 recipient of the Pat Allen Scott Humanitarian Award, she brings extensive performance, choreography, teaching, and ministry experience to CCDT.

Pratt, also a Creative Arts graduate, earned a BFA in Dance from The University of the Arts with a concentration in ballet performance. His professional dance experience includes Grace Dance Theatre, Dance Fusion, Dissonance Dance Theatre, and Danco 2. He also serves in the vocal music department at Creative Arts High School and is an accomplished musical director, composer, and minister of music.

Together, Hawkins and Pratt bring more than professional experience to CCDT—they bring a heart for people.

Their work encourages dancers to overcome fear, embrace their individuality, develop discipline, and recognize the gifts within themselves. Their story also represents the power of coming home and giving back, creating professional artistic opportunities in the Camden community.

Camden Contemporary Dance Theatre is showing that when passion meets purpose, dance becomes transformation.

The movement is more than dance. It is inspiration. It is confidence. It is community. It is possibility.
