City of Naperville Fleet Services Division Ranks No. 7 in the NAFA 100 Best Fleets Competition
TelAve News/10862454
~ Naperville, IL - The City of Naperville's Department of Public Works Fleet Services Division has once again proven their excellence in maintaining and repairing city vehicles and equipment. The division has been ranked No. 7 in "The 100 Best Fleets in the Americas" by the National Association of Fleet Administrators (NAFA). This marks the 12th consecutive year that the team has been recognized as one of the top 100 fleets, but it is their first time breaking into the top 10.
The 100 Best Fleets in the Americas program, which recognizes peak-performing fleet operations among all public fleets in North and South America, ranks agencies based on various categories such as accountability, collaboration, energy management, financial management, and efficiency. The City of Naperville's fleet team has earned this prestigious ranking through their dedication to serving the community and making meaningful contributions.
One notable accomplishment is the installation of push bumpers on police vehicles to provide extra protection and reduce downtime for repairs. This initiative has saved over $100,000 in repair costs while ensuring that more vehicles are available to serve the community. Additionally, the fleet team has partnered with the Finance and Fire departments to secure long-term readiness by budgeting and approving fire vehicle replacements through 2028.

The division also takes pride in supporting future talent by hosting Naperville North High School Automotive Tech students at their facility and serving on the College of DuPage Automotive Advisory Board. Their expertise and insights have been valuable contributions to the Automotive Service Technology program advisors.
In times of crisis, the fleet team is quick to respond and assist other departments. When FEMA called for aid following Hurricane Milton, they were able to service units within hours of receiving the request. This dedication to serving not only their own department but also others within the city showcases their commitment to teamwork and collaboration.
This latest recognition adds to a long list of accolades for Naperville's Fleet Services Division. They have been an ASE Blue Seal Shop since 2004, APWA Accredited since 2006, and have consistently ranked in NAFA's top 100 fleets since 2014. Additionally, all automotive, heavy equipment, and parts technicians in the department are 100% ASE certified.
