DENVER ~ Denver, CO - In a groundbreaking move, Lieutenant Governor Dianne Primavera and the Colorado Commission of Indian Affairs (CCIA) have announced the release of the Tribal and American Indian/Alaska Native Affairs Roadmap. This comprehensive document serves as a crucial step towards honoring Tribal sovereignty, strengthening partnerships, and ensuring that Tribal Nations and AI/AN communities have a significant role in shaping Colorado state practices.

The Roadmap, which is the first of its kind for the State of Colorado, highlights the prioritization of Tribal and AI/AN relations. It represents a collaborative effort between state officials, Tribal leaders, community members, and partners to create a future where all communities can thrive.

According to Lt. Governor Primavera, "Colorado's relationship with Tribal Nations and American Indian and Alaska Native communities must be grounded in respect, partnership, and a willingness to listen and learn." She further stated that the Roadmap reflects the voices, experiences, and priorities shared through Tribal consultation and community engagement.
