Colorado Springs: City Council approves 2026 City Budget, advancing investments in public safety, continued essential services

TelAve News/10882306
~ In a unanimous decision, the City Council has officially approved the 2026 City Budget. This financial plan, which was carefully crafted to sustain core municipal services, strengthen public safety, and maintain long-term fiscal stability, comes at a crucial time of economic uncertainty.

The budget, totaling $427.3 million for the General Fund, represents a decrease of $11 million from the previous year. Despite this decrease, the budget remains balanced without having to draw from reserves. To address rising costs in contracts, healthcare, and other obligations, city departments have identified $31 million in savings through operational efficiencies and targeted reductions.

Mayor Yemi Mobolade expressed his gratitude to the City Council for their diligent work in adopting this budget. He stated that it reflects the priorities of the residents - stronger emergency response, safer neighborhoods, and improved roads. Despite facing economic challenges, strategic investments have been made in core services to strengthen the community.
