A private driveway off northbound South Academy Boulevard, about 350 feet north of Astrozon Boulevard, will also close during that period. Astrozon Shopping Center will remain accessible from Jet Wing Drive or Astrozon Boulevard.
The left-turn lane from southbound Jet Wing Drive onto South Academy Boulevard is closed through Nov. 19, and drivers cannot make that turn during construction.
Project officials said drivers may encounter weekday lane closures from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., temporary changes to walking routes, relocated bus stops and construction near driveways. Access to nearby businesses is expected to be maintained. Transit information is available at MMTransit.com.
Drivers are advised to slow down, follow signs, watch for workers and equipment, and allow extra travel time. Work is weather-dependent, and schedules may change.
The voter-approved Pikes Peak Rural Transportation Authority project is intended to improve safety, traffic flow, walking routes and drainage along South Academy Boulevard. The project information describes it as the road's first major reconstruction since it opened in 1969.
