Columbia: City invites public to Building Code Adoption forum, Dec. 17

(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ Columbia, MO - The City of Columbia Community Development department, in collaboration with the Building and Construction Codes Commission, will be hosting a public forum on Wednesday, Dec. 17 to discuss the City's adoption of the 2024 International Building Codes. The forum will take place at 4 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at City Hall located at 701 E. Broadway.

This forum provides an opportunity for attendees to inquire about and discuss the proposed changes that are currently on file with the City Clerk's Office. The Building Code Adoption is currently in a 90-day public comment and review period, which will end on Feb. 17, 2026.

To ensure transparency and accessibility, Community Development has posted the proposed amendments, along with a summary of significant changes for each code book and a public link to view the 2024 International Codes on its website. Additionally, community members can submit any questions or comments through its BeHeard page. All comments will be carefully reviewed by staff and included in a report to City Council.
