One of the Midwest's largest gem, mineral, and fossil events returns Oct. 9-11 with more than 70 dealers, educational exhibits, hands-on activities, and world-class collections
WARREN, Mich. - TelAve -- WARREN, Mich. - The Michigan Mineralogical Society and Cranbrook Institute of Science will mark the 80th Annual Greater Detroit Gem, Mineral & Fossil Show with a first: FREE admission for children 14 and under accompanied by an adult.
The three-day show featuring incredible fossils, sparkling gemstones, and rare treasures from around the world runs Oct. 9-11, 2026, at the Macomb Community College Sports & Expo Center in Warren. This year's theme is the Quest for Quartz.
Drawing collectors, families, educators, hobbyists, and curious explorers from across the Midwest, the event offers an opportunity to experience natural history through educational exhibits, expert presentations, hands-on activities, and more than 70 dealers showcasing gems, minerals, fossils, crystals, jewelry, and lapidary art - the craft of cutting and polishing stones.

"This show is about inspiring curiosity and helping people connect with the incredible natural history that exists all around us," said Dave Lurie, president of the Michigan Mineralogical Society. "Whether you're a serious collector, a parent looking for a fun family activity, or someone who simply loves discovering something new, there is truly something for everyone."
The annual show has become a regional destination for those fascinated by geology, paleontology, and earth sciences, while also providing a fun and affordable family experience.
