AUSTIN, Texas - TelAve -- Danny's Ice Cream Truck is excited to announce that effective July 1, 2026, the company will operate under the new Texas Statewide Mobile Food Unit Health Permit, allowing the business to legally serve customers anywhere in the State of Texas without obtaining separate local health permits for each jurisdiction.

For years, Danny's Ice Cream Truck has proudly served Austin, Travis County, and surrounding communities while navigating multiple local permitting requirements for events outside its primary service area. The new statewide permit simplifies that process, making it easier to serve customers throughout Central Texas.

Although the permit allows statewide operation, owner Dan Hart says the company has no plans to become a long-distance operation.

"While this new permit technically allows us to operate anywhere in Texas, our focus remains serving the Austin area and surrounding communities," said Hart. "We still plan to stay within about a 30 to 35-mile radius of our commercial commissary, where our truck is based. Travel simply has to make business sense."

Hart explained that fuel costs and travel time remain important considerations.

"Obviously we're not going to drive an hour each way to serve 30 ice creams," Hart said. "Current fuel costs make that a losing deal. What this new permit does mean is we no longer have to spend time and money obtaining temporary health permits every time we're invited to an event outside Travis County. That saves us significant administrative work and allows us to focus on what we do best—creating fun, memorable events for our customers."

The new permit benefits schools, businesses, neighborhoods, churches, HOAs, birthday parties, and corporate clients located just outside Travis County by making scheduling easier and eliminating permit-related delays.
