EAST ORANGE, N.J. - TelAve -- Small business training should lead to measurable results. In East Orange, New Jersey, 25 businesses achieved Urban Enterprise Zone (UEZ) certification and 25 secured financial incentives through a professional development initiative designed and implemented by Anna D. Banks' contributions were publicly recognized during Mayor Ted R. Green's address to the East Orange business community, hosted by the East Orange Chamber of Commerce.

According to Cohen's formal recommendation, the program achieved:
  • 40 businesses enrolled across three cohorts.
  • 25 businesses achieved UEZ certification, representing 62.5% of enrollment.
  • 25 businesses secured financial incentives of $2,500 or $5,000, depending on their cohort.

The program combined practical instruction, milestone tracking, and business guidance to help entrepreneurs navigate certification requirements and strengthen operational readiness.

"Small business owners need more than information. They need guidance that helps them take action," said Banks. "When entrepreneurs gain tools to qualify for opportunities, they strengthen their businesses and the communities they serve."

Bringing AI Into Business Development

The third cohort introduced practical AI-powered tools to improve business documentation and workflows. This addition reflects Thrive's commitment to preparing entrepreneurs for changing workplace demands.
