Edamam Launches an API to Analyze the Nutrition of Web Recipes in Real Time
TelAve News/10904502
Edamam's latest product will be bundled with the Company's Nutrition Analysis API and will expand the toolset for clients building food logging, recipe clipping, and nutrition data solutions.
NEW YORK - TelAve -- Edamam, the leading provider of food and nutrition data solutions for business in the health, wellness, and food sectors, released today a new product to help return structed data and produce full and accurate nutrition analysis of recipes from web pages. The new solution, dubbed Site Parser API, leverages a proprietary information extraction, parsing, and natural language understanding technology.
"The primary use cases for the Site Parser API are food logging and powering recipe collection tools, such as recipe importer and recipe clipper. Our clients can build tools for people to share a recipe URL and get accurate nutrition data in an instant," explained Victor Penev, the Edamam's Founder and CEO.

Edamam's customers need to send the HTML of a recipe page to the Site Parser API, and it will do the rest, intelligently extracting the recipe, including title, servings, ingredients, prep steps, cooking time, and image, then instantly running a complete nutritional analysis on top of it.
In one response Edamam's customers can get both the clean, structured recipe and Edamam's full nutrition breakdown, including calories, 28 macro- and micronutrients, diet and health labels, allergen cautions, and automatic cuisine, meal, and dish-type classification.
"Our goal is to make it easy for people to find accurate nutrition data and log foods in any circumstance and with as little friction as possible," added Victor Penev.
The new product by Edamam expands the toolset of companies building food logging or diet management solutions, by allowing them to produce the nutrition data of web recipes that people cook or plan to cook. Edamam's solution employs a tested product that deterministically produces high accuracy data far exceeding the nutrient data produced by AI agents and LLMs.
