Has Pool Restoration Effort Now Morphed into Trump's Poolgate
WASHINGTON - TelAve -- In following up on reports that Jeanine Pirro filed a court motion which unnecessarily and deliberately attacked Trump for its bungling of repairs to the Reflecting Pool, that Trump is considering firing her for this action, and that she may be lying by blaming the insult to Trump on a subordinate who allegedly filed it on his own and without her knowledge and authorization,
U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro Probably Lying to Avoid Firing (https://yournews.com/2026/08/04/7142391/u-s-att...)
a federal judge is considering whether to take steps to prevent Trump and his administration for possibly destroying important evidence in hat may be morphing into "Poolgate, says public interest law professor john Banzhaf.
The controversial motion to dismiss felony charges for allegedly deliberately damaging the Reflecting Pool provides very strong evidence suggesting that Trump had lied in claiming that the problems with the pool were caused by malicious vandals.

Instead, Pirro concluded in the official filing that Trump and his administration was responsible. In part it said:
"Based upon USAO-DC's review of the record in light of the materials only recently disclosed by DOI, the government moves to dismiss the indictment without prejudice. . . However, the information subsequently demanded by USAO disclosed by DOI—which was not known to the prosecutors or the grand jury before the return of the indictment—strongly suggest that a rushed and botched installation by AIC, the primary contractor, led to the damage to the lining of the Reflecting Pool. . . . Specifically, the newly released documents reveal that work on installing the lining almost immediately fell behind, due to a combination of very rainy and windy weather, repeated failures of testing on the sealing of the expansion joints, and delays in obtaining sealing product at the worksite. The rush to complete the project led to hasty and botched work that was not remediated before the project was finished and the fencing removed." [emphasis added]

Apparently as a result, Pirro was summoned to the White House on Monday. Trump has in effect publicly called Pirro a liar, and is now reportedly considering whether to fire her.
As a result of this controversy, which is growing something like Watergate (in which Banzhaf played a role), a federal judge is considering whether to have an inspection made of the pool to document its current condition since Interior has already signaled plans for further work that could erase the discrepancy for good.
