Free Fun Weekend in Madison Parks

~ Madison, WI - The City of Madison Parks and Dane County Parks have announced that they will be offering permit-free days on Saturday and Sunday, June 6 and 7, 2026. This means that visitors will not need a permit to enjoy various activities such as disc golf, bringing their dogs to the park, or accessing the lakes.
Typically, a daily or annual permit is required to play disc golf at any of the City of Madison's courses. However, on June 6 and 7, visitors can try out the sport without needing a permit at two locations: Elver Park on 1250 McKenna Blvd and Hiestand on 4302 Milwaukee St. More information about these courses can be found on the Disc Golf Courses page.
In addition to disc golf, visitors can also bring their dogs to certain parks without needing a Dog Permit on June 6 and 7. These include off-leash dog parks such as Demetral on 2297 Commercial Ave, North Star on 439 Milky Way, McCormick on 702 N. McCormick Ave, Odana School on 678 S. Segoe Rd, Quann on 1802 Quann-Olin Pkwy, Sycamore on 4517 Sycamore Ave, Walnut Grove on 202 N. For those looking to access the lakes for boating activities, a daily or annual Lake Access Permit is typically required for designated boat launches. However, this requirement will be waived for June 7 and 8 at Law Park on 410 S. Blair St., Olbrich Park on3401 Atwood Ave., Olin Park on1156 Olin-Turville Ct., Marshall Parkon2101 Allen Blvd., Spring Harbor Parkon5218 Lake Mendota Dr., Tenney Parkon1601 Sherman Ave., and Warner Park on1201 Woodward Dr. More information about these boat launches can be found on the Boat Launches page.
