Georgia: Gov. Kemp: Hyundai Transys Bringing 320 New Jobs to West Point
TelAve News/10908546
ATLANTA ~ Hyundai Transys plans to invest nearly $560 million to expand its manufacturing operations in West Point, Georgia, creating 320 jobs, Gov. Brian Kemp announced.
The expansion at 6801 Kia Parkway will upgrade the company's first and second plants and add a third facility. It is intended to increase production capacity for hybrid-vehicle electrified powertrains, according to the announcement.
Hyundai Transys currently employs about 1,250 people at its West Point facility. The company said it will hire for administrative, supervisory and production roles. Job information is available at its website.
Kemp said the investment would strengthen Georgia's automotive manufacturing sector and support Hyundai and Kia's growth in the state.

West Point Mayor Steve Tramell said the project would strengthen the local economy and create opportunities for residents. Troup County Commission Chairman Patrick Crews also welcomed the investment, describing Hyundai Transys as a community partner.
The Georgia Department of Economic Development said its Global Commerce team worked on the project with the City of West Point, Georgia Quick Start and Georgia Power.
