Gov. Kemp: Georgia Breaks Tourism Records Four Years Straight
TelAve News/10908108
ATLANTA ~ Georgia tourism set records for the fourth consecutive year in 2025, with 175.6 million domestic and international visitors spending $46.2 billion across the state, Gov. Brian Kemp announced.
The figures, shared at the Georgia Governor's Tourism Conference, represent a more than 2% increase over the previous record set in 2024. Georgia also ranked fifth nationally for domestic overnight visitation for the sixth straight year.
Tourism spending generated $5.3 billion in state and local tax revenue, an average annual tax savings of nearly $1,300 per Georgia household, according to the state. The industry's total economic impact reached $84.1 billion and supported 473,837 direct, indirect and induced jobs—about one in every 15 jobs in Georgia.
Since 2019, the number of visitors has grown more than 15%, from 152.3 million to the 2025 record. Visitor spending rose 22% over that period, while tourism-generated state and local tax revenue increased by more than 24%.

Kemp credited Georgia's attractions, communities and tourism workers with drawing visitors and supporting businesses and jobs statewide. Georgia Department of Economic Development Commissioner Pat Wilson said the results reflect the work of tourism professionals and the industry's role in the state's economy.
The state's tourism marketing also contributed to visitation, according to the department. A study by SMARInsights found that Georgia generated $78 in return for every $1 spent on paid advertising in 2025.
The annual conference, presented by the department's Explore Georgia tourism division, brings together more than 400 travel and hospitality professionals. The 2026 event was held at the Jekyll Island Convention Center.
The figures come from an annual study by Tourism Economics, commissioned by the Georgia Department of Economic Development, measuring tourism's economic impact statewide and across Georgia's 159 counties.
