~ In a move to prioritize education and student achievement, Governor Greg Abbott has appointed 21 outstanding educators from various regions of Texas to the newly formed Texas Classroom Commission. This commission, comprised of accomplished educators, will play a crucial role in shaping the future of public education in the state.

According to Governor Abbott, Texas teachers possess the necessary talent, understanding, and expertise to ensure that every student succeeds. As such, it is imperative that they are at the forefront of discussions regarding education. The Texas Classroom Commission will work towards building on previous investments in public education and provide recommendations to strengthen classroom instruction, support teachers, and prepare the next generation of Texans.

The commission will be chaired by Courtney Boswell MacDonald from Kerrville. MacDonald brings with her a wealth of experience as a former classroom teacher and current chair of the State Board for Educator Certification.

The members of the commission represent a diverse group of educators from different school districts across Texas. They include Abbigale Grataski from Calallen ISD, Bobbie Lynn Weir from Richardson ISD, Cassidy Estes from Amarillo ISD, Crystal Stipes from Comanche ISD, Danette Wofford from Nacogdoches ISD, Dawnna Talley from Ector County ISD, Eric Hale from Dallas ISD, Hannah Landry from Bridge City ISD, Jean Streepey from Highland Park ISD, JoMeka Gray from Temple ISD, Karla Guevara from Riesel ISD, Laura Fanning from Lubbock ISD, Matthew Driver from Bushland ISD, Nidia De La Cerda from Tuloso-Midway ISD, Noe Perez from Los Fresnos CISD,Sergio Arjonfrom HoustonISDSusanne Whitleyfrom TomballISDTevin Kingfrom IDEA Public Schools - El Paso,Tiffany Kilcoynefrom Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD, Valton Acree from Yorktown ISD, and Veronica Bayne from Killeen ISD.

The commission is made up of current and former public-school educators who will work together to develop practical and informed recommendations for the Governor, the Texas Education Agency, and the Texas Legislature ahead of the 90th Legislative Session. This initiative was launched earlier this month by Governor Abbott as part of his efforts to make Texas the number one state for educating children.
